Hand Blades

These simple sheep shearing devices date back a very long way and even to the biblical times. These sheep shearing blades or “tongs” as the old blokes used to call them are very collectable. The one piece models that were made before mechanisation are the most sought after.

The blades pictured here are from Turkey and operate in quite a different fashion. The blades are fed into the wool and then closed as illustrated below. Theses things are very sharp and great care must be taken when using them.
